Week 1 - First Steps

Hello there,

Its been a while since we posted and we have a few updates to share with you.

Now there isn´t much art to show yet so this post will mostly be a small showcase of the development process and what we have planned.

So lets start!

First thigs first, lets talk about the softwares we will be using:
-Our Game Engine will be Unreal Engine 4;
-Our modelling software will be Blender;
-For textures we are going to take fotos and edit them(probably with Photoshop);

and for now thats it.

Further along the line we will have to handle sound and we dont really have a sound guy, so we probably will just wing it and see how it goes.

A good tip when you are starting a new project is to reseach everything about what it. In our case Egypt. And you know you've done your reseach well enough when you know more about your subject than everyone else.

Also, create moodboards and bullshots to help you visualise your own ideas.

And the now the hardest but most important thing... target audience.

Making games is a business and as such, you need to think about who you are selling you game to. The best way of doing this is creating personas, made up people that have certain tastes and figure out what makes them like what they like.

After having a few personas, build your game ideas around those traits, if people like fast things, make a fast game, if people like competitiveness, find a way to make your game competitive. Keep in mind that there isn't a perfect formula, there isn't a game that's prefect for everyone. So build your game in a way that you can please the most people possible. The better you do this part, the more likely your game will have sucess in the future.

After this you should have a pretty solid idea of what your game should look like, so start writting a Game Design Document. This is a document where you write everything you want your game to be, very little detail. Think of it as a document that, if your team has a new member, you can give it to him/her and he/she will know exactly what the game is. There are some templates you can find online if you're not sure on where to start.

This is just a bunch of knowledge we have learnt over time and want to share with you.
